Report by Suchismita Sahoo; Bhubaneswar: Naveen Jindal, Executive Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JSPL meets Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. He said JSPL to invest Rs 1,20,000 crore by 2020 in state. Jindal said this after a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
He said the capacity of Jindal steel plant at Angul would be raised from 6 mtpa to 20 mtpa. A lion's share of the investment would be made in the proposed Coal-to-Liquid (CTL) project for which Rs 60,000 crore would be pumped in. He said the company likely to set up an industrial park where a large number of small units would come up with potential to generate 20,000 to 25,000 employment.
Besides, he said., JSPL has decided to put up a medical college and hospital at Angul along with a school to provide quality education, Stating that despite being a industrialists, he was not in favour of destruction of nature and environment and acquisition of fertile Agriculture land for industrial purposes. Out of the lands acquired by his company for the purpose of the steel project, 90 percent are fallow lands.
