Orissa's IT minister passes Plus-II exam

Orissa's IT Minister Ramesh Majhi was among 1,71,118 students having passed the higher secondary examinations, results of which were announced on Monday by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Orissa.
Majhi, who had appeared for the Plus-II Arts examination from a college in Nawarangpur district, passed in the first division securing 376 marks out of total 600.
"I am happy for the success amid hectic schedules," Majhi said adding he was yet to take any call about whether to continue studies.
Majhi had earlier in 1995 flunked in the Plus-II science examination from the BJB College.
After a long 19 years, he again wrote the papers on becoming a minister.
While 68.32 per cent students passed in the science stream, 73.48 per cent passed in the Plus-II arts followed by 68.66 in commerce subjects.
While 73 per cent of students had passed the CHSE examination in previous year, the pass per centage came down to only 69.1 per cent this time, said Higher Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra.
The reason for fall in the pass percentage was mostly due to tight invigilation.
