Orissa Government to launch special program for disabled

The Orissa government has decided to launch a special program for disabled. The name of the program will be the Bhimabhoi Disabled Capacity Building Scheme. It will be launch from October with a view to bringing the differently abled persons to the mainstream of the society. This was decided at a meeting chaired by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
It should be noted that at present, there are 10 lakh differently abled persons in Orissa. Orissa plans to issue certificates and extend other facilities to at least 4,00,000 differently abled persons.
Ten new courses will be opened in the institutes located in the undivided Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi districts and western Orissa. Camps will be organised in all the 314 blocks of Orissa for the differently abled persons. The programme will mainly focus on the improvement of their economic condition. In the camp the differently abled will be provided certificate, pension, bank passbooks, identity cards and other instruments. Medical facilities will also be provided to the differently abled. Corrective surgery will also be performed on boys and girls below 16 years in the camp.

A special hostel will also be opened for the working disabled. The disabled studying in colleges will also be given a scholarship of Rs 350 per month.
The differently abled students studying in special schools will be provided with two pairs of school uniforms. To impart technical education, special industrial training institutes will be set up.
