Orissa Govt planned for Learning Achievement Tracking System in Primary Schools

In another step towards improving the quality of education in Primary level, Govt in School and Mass Education Department has planned for Learning Achievement Tracking System in Primary Schools. The proposed project has been started on pilot basis in Khorda and Dhenkanal districts. Various facets of the system were discussed in a high level meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Bijaya Kumar Patnaik in the secretariat conference hall recently.

The objective of the system is to asses subject-wise and class-wise achievement level of students in different schools and identify the causes of low achievement in case of students lagging behind. It has been proposed to plan for remedial classes for enhancing the learning achievement of children on the basis of this information.
The data will also be treated as baseline achievement level of students of the concerned schools. Analysis of results will be done twice a year – once after half-yearly exam and second time after annual exam. For the purpose a dedicated cell will be opened in OPEPA under pedagogy section with appropriate personnel to handle it. Data collected through this analysis will be shared with BRCC & CRCC for follow up actions.

The Chief Secretary Sri Patnaik has directed to make the method scientific and complete the pilot analysis quickly. He has also directed the Department to see the average standard of students in schools and wake up to address the cause to overcome it. Secretary School & Mass Education Smt. Aparajita Sadangi, Director, OPEPA Krushna Gopal Mohapatra, Additional Director Radha Mohan Prasad participated in discussions.
