Medical Council of India (MCI) and Union health ministry has mutually agreed for the Common Entrance Test for Medical College Admissions in India. MCI was asked to prepare the syllabus for the test while CBSE was chosen to conduct the Test, the syllabus for Common Entrance Test has beenpublished on MCI website.
The test will be conducted for MBBS (UG) course, the Common Entrance Test will be called as ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for undergraduates (NEET-UG)’. NEET-UG will be the only entrance test an MBBS aspirant has to take from the next academic year. Similarly plans are in place for admissions into PG & Super Specialty Courses, these tests are scheduled to be held next year.
Earlier the Government of Karnataka & Orissa has raised concerns over drafting a common syllabus. MCI has went a head and published the syllabus and would take suggestions from the public till August 2011.
The syllabus is prepared by NCERT (National Council of Education Research and Training) for the core subjects Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
