Bhubaneswar: Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC), today, contributed Rs. 50 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), extending assistance for the flood-hit people of Orissa.
OPGC handed over the cheque of Rs. 50 lakhs to the Chief Minister of Orissa Mr. Naveen Pattnaik at the CM’s chamber in Orissa State Secretariat building. Energy Minister Mr. Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Energy Department Mr. G. Mathivathanan, Director (Operation) of OPGC Mr. Indranil Dutta, other OPGC officials and state govt. functionaries were also present at the occasion.
OPGC has also provided financial assistance as well as relief materials like rice, rice cereal, clothes, baby food and sanitary napkins for infants to the flood-stricken people of Jharsusguda district during the severe flood situation this month.
It should be noted here that OPGC, being one of the profitable PSUs of the state has always supported various social causes by extending a helping hand to the people and the state, apart from paying dividends regularly. It has also been providing assistance during various natural calamities faced by the people of Orissa.
OPGC, a joint venture of the Govt. of Orissa and AES Corp., USA, has been continuously carrying out various Corporate Social Responsibility activities in the fields of health, education, sanitation, environment protection as well as social and civic infrastructure building in the peripheral villages around the IB Thermal Power Station at Banharpali of Jharsuguda district.
