Durga Pujaor Durgotsava is an annualHindu festivalin South Asia that celebrates worship of the Hindu goddess Durga.
It refers to all the six days observed as Mahalaya, Shashthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami and Bijoya Dashami.
The dates of Durga Puja celebrations are set according to the traditional Hindu calendar and the fortnight corresponding to the festival is called Devi Paksha.
It is widely celebrated in the Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, Orissa and Tripura and with a five-day annual holiday. In West Bengal and Tripura it is the biggest festival of the year.
