Wartburg's Corporation Education Day set Oct. 4


WAVERLY - India's emerging economy will be the focus of Wartburg College's 43rd annual Corporation Education Day Tuesday.
"Understanding the Potential Impact of India's Economic, Political and Cultural Environment" will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Sureka K. Rao, associate professor of economics at Indiana University Northwest in Gary. Executives from John Deere Engine Works and Wells Fargo and a global marketer will participate in a panel discussion on India's economic and cultural impact.
Rao, who was raised in India, will begin the conference at 11 a.m. with her talk in McCaskey Lyceum in Saemann Student Center. She is president of the Indiana Academy of Social Sciences and has taught in the U.S., Australia, Italy and India.
Following an invitation-only luncheon, a panel discussion at 1:30 p.m. in McCaskey Lyceum will feature three Indian-born executives working in the Upper Midwest:
Robesh Maity, currently on assignment at John Deere Engine Works in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, was senior general manager at John Deere in India and senior manager of product engineering at General Motors in India.
Kamala Nayar, assistant vice president at the Wells Fargo Credit - Bank Management Group in Des Moines, received a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Bombay (Mumbai) and was a fellow of the Chartered Accountants of India. She became a certified public accountant in Iowa and is on the board of Cultureall, a nonprofit Des Moines area-based group promoting cultural awareness in schools.
Sam Roy is managing partner and founder of Minnesota-based WFM, LLC, which assists organizations in dealing with the global economy. Roy was raised in India and holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Jadavpur University as well as an M.B.A. from Minnesota State University in Mankato.
