Orissa: Berhampur University student union polls cancelled


Berhampur: Berhampur University student's union election was cancelled due to tension in campus .Post graduate council has taken the decision and vice – chancellor also approved the decision of PG council .University authority's also suspended classes of all streams till October 1st and Puja vacations of the university start from the next day.
Speaking to newsman, council chairman Niraj Kant Tripathy said they had to cancel the students union election as all candidates in fray failed to provide undertaking that they would enable peaceful conduct of election.
The 22 member's election committee of the university has asked the student leaders of the university to give this undertaking following election campaign related group clash and tension on the campus on Saturday. Gopalpur police arrested six students in relation to the group clash.
