Orissa Government reconstituted State-level Anti-Ragging Committee


Bhubaneswar: The Government has reconstituted the State-level Anti-Ragging Committee.  The newly-constituted panel among others comprises four Ministers and the Higher Education Secretary as the member secretary. The state Governor is the chairman of the panel. It was announced by Higher Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra.
He said the Anti -Ragging Committee was constituted as per the direction of the Supreme Court to prevent the illegal practice. A formal notification has been issued to this effect by the Higher Education Department, he said.
According to a notification, the committee comprises Ministers of Higher Education, Sports and Youth Services,  Industries, Health and Family Welfare and  Agriculture Department, Chief Secretary , Secretaries belonging to Health and Family Welfare, Industries, Agriculture, Tourism and Culture, vice-chancellors of all State universities , vice-chancellors of all Central universities.
The notification said the anti-ragging committee would meet periodically and issue suitable instructions to all universities to be alert with regard to ragging.
