Orissa Govt launches Mobile Science Exhibition on Mathematics to popularise Mathematics among Rural Students


Bhubaneswar:  In a bid to popularize mathematics amongst rural students, the Regional Science Center in association with School & Mass Education Department, has inaugurated a “Mobile Science Exhibition on Mathematics”. Addressing the meeting on this occasion, Smt. Usha Devi said “without the knowledge of mathematics one can not be master of any subject. As there is a popular saying “mathematics is at the head of all knowledge like crest of a peacock”, our rural/children should be adopt in mathematics by the process of learning by doing vis-à-vis Exhibitions, models etc”.
 Other speakers also highlighted on exposure of rural students to Exhibitions and Seminars.   The “Mobile Science Exhibition on Mathematics” will cover eight districts of the state starting from 17th  October of this year. The districts are Cuttack, Deogarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Anugul, Kandhamal and Keonjhar Circle Inspectors of Schools will facilitate the Exhibition.
 Earlier, a Science Exhibition van on climate changes has been moving round the 30 districts of the state, informs Archana Khuntia, Project manager of Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar.
 Among others were Prof(Dr.) Prasanta Kumar Sahoo, VC of Utkal University, Prof.(Dr) Sebak Tripathy, Director, TE & SCERT, Prof. Swadhin Pattnaik, Director, Institute of Mathematics and E. Islam, Director, Birla Institute of Industrial Science & Technology, Calcutta attended the meeting.
