Orissa: School children observed International Literacy Day


Bhadrak:  Parents, SMC Members, teachers and students were very excited when they heard that MLA is visiting their village school. This was a unique idea by an NGO to involve legislators to visit a school. The school visit programme was organized by National Coalition for Education, a national level NGO on the eve of International Literacy day.
Dhamnagar MLA Mr. Rajendra Prasad Das appreciated the effort of NCE and said that some organizations are involving us in various issues and therefore we are becoming more conscious for our children.
Mr. Das interacted with the school teachers and members of SMCs on school development plan, enrolment of girl child in the school. During his interaction with the children, he was noticed various issues of the school. While talking with the teachers and other members of schools, he assured that he will release some funds for school building in a priority basis.
Later, in a programme in Bhagbanpur Primary School in his constituency, the school children observed literacy Day. The programme was organized by National Coalition for Education, a voluntary organization working on Right to Education.
In this programme, 25 girl children were felicitated by local Sarpanch Mr. Ramaninath Kuanr for their outstanding record in academic and extra-curricular activities in school. Also other students of the school were given a note book and a pen to remind the importance of the day. Two teachers of Dhamnagar area were also felicitated for their outstanding effort in increasing enrolment in various schools.
The programme was also attended by Karunakar Sankhua, Treasurer: AUPTF, Mr. Rabi Mohapatra, teacher leader, civil society members, local PRI Members, SMC members and parents of those children.
