Wipro's not-for-profit trust, Mission 10X, today launched its advanced academic leadership programme for the principals of engineering colleges, in collaboration with Harvard Business School Publishing (HBSP). The HBSP is a not-for-profit subsidiary of Harvard University which works to extend the reach of Harvard Business School. The aim of this programme is to facilitate principals of engineering colleges to enhance their leadership skill-sets so that they can improve the quality of engineering education. "On the Teachers' Day today, we are happy to launch this programme in collaboration with HBSP. We believe this association will bring premier content and a rich learning experience to the academic leaders," Mission 10X's Senior Vice-President, Talent Transformation, Selvan D said. Wipro's Mission 10X originally began efforts to improve the quality of training at engineering colleges after a Nasscom report concluded that around 25 percent of engineering graduates passing out every year cannot be readily employed by any technology firm in the country, the statement said. "Our mission is to improve the practice of management and its impact in a changing world. We are happy to be collaborating with Wipro's Mission10X in developing academic leadership in engineering education in India to enhance the quality of the engineering talent in India," HBSP Executive Vice President Raymond Carvey said. Mission 10X which had covered 750 engineering colleges and 10,000 faculty by September 2010, plans to expanding coverage to 25,000 teachers, in the next three years, the statement said. "We intend to expand the Unified Learning Kit developed by us to engineering disciplines other than infotech, to bridge the technology gap between industry and engineering colleges. These kits will enhance employability of engineering students," Mission 10X's Head Nagarjuna S said.
