Orissa: BSE decided to issue certificates to all successful candidates by June end

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) conducting the annual High School Certificate examinations in Odisha, has decided to issue memoranda of mark-sheets and certificates to all successful candidates by this month-end.
We have decided to issue the mark-sheets and certificates to students by June 30 in order to enable them to apply for different institutions for higher studies, said BSE president Satyakam Mishra told reporters here on Sunday.
This year, the certificates and marksheets are coming in single sheets with the photographs of the students and their signature embossed on the sheets.
The dispatch of certificates to different zones has already started. From the zones, they will go to different schools, and the process will be over by Tuesday, Mishra said, adding that in case any error is spotted in the certificates, the zone offices are authorised to rectify them at their ends.
He also informed that proposals are pending before the state government for introducing Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) as is done by the CBSE, New Delhi for the students taking the State Board examinations.
He was also in favour of giving some credit to the BSE students during consideration of admission at the Plus II stage.
Since there is no scope to evaluate co-scholastic performance of our students under the present pattern of examinations, they should be given some credit during the admissions for the Plus II stage, Mishra observed.
He pointed out that there are also proposals to have internal examination of 20 marks in each subject for the Odia medium students in the annual school leaving examinations.
In the annual examinations, which would have 80 marks in each subject, emphasis would be given to evaluate the students’ memory, analysis and ability and expression power.
For this, we have decided to have 40 marks devoted for multiple answer type questions and they will be in OMR format and the remaining 40 marks will be exclusively long type and short questions of two to three sentences, Mishra disclosed.
