IBM is reported to be on top of the list of supercomputers in India for 2011. Out of the 16 installations that were acknowledged by Supercomputer Education and Research Centre, IBM came out to be on top of the list.
Also, IBM is said to have `six high-performance computing installations' all over India, and the survey revealed that Bangalore is at the top of the list in terms of the number of supercomputers. Bangalore is followed by Chennai.
Nevertheless, 76% of Indian firms are said to view security as a crucial challenge in `implementing server virtualization'. This was revealed by the Security Firm Symantec's 2011 Virtualization and Evolution to the Cloud Survey.
However, the greenest supercomputer in the world has always been created by IBM, which has got the first two positions on the `latest twice-yearly Green500' ranking with its NNSA/SC Blue Gene/Q Prototypes 1 and 2.
Moreover, IBM's Blue Gene Prototype 1 was at the top of the last Green500 list in November 2010 and its dominance is not shocking as its designs account for almost half of the top 100 supercomputers on the list, and six of the top 10 list; also, the system that deserves nearly an equal billing maybe sixth on the list.
