Infrastructure Investments to Drive the Indian Higher Education Sector

According to our research report “Indian Education Services - A Hot Opportunity”, India has one of the biggest higher education systems in the world. However, still the need and demand for higher education development in the country has been witnessing an upward trend due to the high potential for development. Various factors, such as rapid economic growth, industrial development, and significant growth in the country’s service sector have been resulting into the rising demand for highly qualified professionals. Moreover, the number of universities has grown manifold during the past few years.

As per our findings, there have been rising infrastructure investments by the government to set up more universities & colleges. With rising number of colleges & universities, the number of student’s enrollments in higher education has reached around 14.6 Million at the end of 2010-11, which is further anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 11% during 2011-12 to 2013-14. Additionally, the country is focusing on improving the quality of education. With the entry of foreign players, it is expected that, the competition will intensify and correspondingly improve the quality of education.

Besides, the report has found that, economic growth is leading to a surge in the demand for more engineers, management graduates, computer engineers etc. The country’s demographic differentials reveal that, India will have a distinct advantage of the younger age group (where many new opportunities can be fully optimized) during the next few years.
