What is your view on the emerging learning landscape in India?
With the Right to Education Act in place, the learning landscape in India is bound to improve, as the Act ensures elementary education to every child between the age of 6 to 14 years. India is one of the largest markets for School Education in the World. India has over 1 million schools providing education from K-12 (kindergarten – Class 12) to over 200 million students. There are over 5 million teachers across India who need support in training in IT and delivery of Education. The Government has been making efforts to bridge the gap and promote literacy among students. The Government has made initiatives to spread literacy at all levels, thus the learning landscape in India has taken a new turn.

This initiative is a part of the government’s overall target to train 500mn people by 2022 to meet the global skills shortage.

What are the challenges in skill development?
The biggest challenge in our country is skill development itself. Only 12% of Indians go to college. It is here Everonn comes into the picture and provides the right kind of skills and training to the remaining 88%.

We provide various vocational courses. To illustrate, if one chooses to go for the sector of retail then the institution trains them from a shop floor assistant up to merchandising manager; this will open up many options for employment in his career.

Our focus is to deliver content to the schools, colleges and vocational courses of India making them eligible for a better employment.

How many training centres do you plan to set up?
We plan to set up 271 training centers across the country. Currently, Everonn Skill has 15 centers operational and is looking to expand capacity to 71 centers in the next three months.

Further, to ensure quality teachers for the courses, we are looking to set up Master Resource Centers (MRCs) in each state to train teachers. The course fee for the technical courses will range from Rs. 9,000 to Rs24,000.
