Need educational development in rural areas: Mondal

“Though India is developing at a fast pace, still the field of education is lagging behind specially in the rural areas where there is no proper infrastructure and facilities for higher education," said Mondal.

“Around 70 percent of the people in West Bengal dwells in the rural areas and the rate of literacy in these areas are very poor,” he said.

Mondal assured that the new Trinamool Congress-Congress run state Government will give more priority in developing of the educational sector in West Bengal.

He said that in the future years Bengal will contribute the world in every field like civil service, finance, banking, technology, law, management, etc. 

The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of an education fair-Eduquest-on Saturday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.

Mondal said, “ I am happy to witness such a wonderful event for the youngsters and hope that in future this fair be held in suburbs like Canning.” 

‘Eduquest’ is jointly organized by the Anandabazar Patrika and Sarawasti Online.Com Ltd., presented by the Techno India Group and cosponsored by the Punjab Technical University.

The key attraction of the fair will be the interactive sessions for the students which will be graced by eminent personalities like renowned author Chetan Bhagat, industrialist Harsh Neotia, cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle and former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly.

Writer Chetan Bhagat, who was present at the event on Saturday, said, “ I think proper education and knowledge is the key to the success for any individual.” 

He said that only 5 percent students can make to the reputed institutes and top schools of India but the other 95 percent students also deserve to get the right to proper education and a good career.

“This type of education fairs will definitely give the insight to the students about choosing their right career,” he said.
