The first EKYA School in the city, a joint venture of CMR Group of Institutions and National Public Schools, was inaugurated today by Mr. SD Shibulal, Co-Founder and member of the board of Infosys Technologies Limited at JP Nagar under the aegis of Dr. KP Gopalkrishna, Chairman of National Public Schools and The International School, Bangalore.
The Ekya School at JP Nagar is the first Ekya school to be launched and will be followed by other branches in the years to come. The function was presided over by Mr. K.C. Ramamurthy, Inspector General of Police (Retd.), Chairman of CMR Group of Institutions, Mr. B.N. Vijay Kumar, MLA-Jayanagar, Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, President of CMR Jnanadhara Trust and Mr. S.K. Nataraj, Former Worshipful Mayor of Bangalore City. The Ekya School offers an integrated Global Curriculum from Grade I to VIII, wherein highly trained teachers use content that is developed and tested by a team of educators and researchers at National Public Schools & CMR Institutions. Ekya is a full-fledged K-12 school with only two sections per class. A crucial part of the Ekya experience is a small class size of around 30. Located in the serene atmosphere of 3rd Phase JP Nagar, Ekya has an environment friendly campus designed by the world class, award winning architecture firm Mindspace Architects, conceived and designed by Sanjay Mohe, in a way conducive for learning, keeping the child in mind. The campus includes well ventilated and naturally lit classrooms with panoramic windows, reading nooks and in-class libraries in every classroom, digitized library with separate zones for the primary and middle school, visual art center, gardening area, sports facilities amongst other facilities. The campus also boasts of a 90-seater Audio Visual Room and a covered amphitheatre with a seating capacity of 900. There is also a mini amphitheatre that seats 80 students used mainly for class presentations and theatre performances.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Sri. S. D Shibulal, Co-Founder of Infosys Technologies pointed out how wholistic education is crucial to the overall development of the children. He emphasized on the need for including arts and sports as an integral part of the curriculum He shared, “The school forms the foundation for a child's future. Therefore it is important that the curriculum is focused towards developing a sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness in a child and hence a collaborative approach to education is necessary.” He also shared his views about education and correlated how his early schooling has impacted his life. He said, “Education is an area which is very close to my heart. It plays a critical role in the socio-economic development and schools have an important role towards promoting this cause. Teachers have a significant role to build the future generations as school is a place from where the future leaders are born.”
He ended his inaugural address by congratulating the Ekya team for this important milestone and wished them all the very best for the future. The academic curriculum at Ekya consists of the Early Childhood Program (Montessori & Kindergarden systems), the Primary Program (Grades 1-V) & the Middle School (Grades-VI-VIII).
Ekya is affiliated to the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and will soon be offering the Cambridge International Certificate (IGCSE) in Senior School. EKYA- From National Public Schools & CMR Group of Institutions: Connected to the Best:

He emphasized the need for greater participation and involvement by the parents along with the teachers to help in the overall development of the child.
Sri. K.C. Ramamurthy, Retd. Inspector General of Police and the Chairman of CMR Group of Institutions shared, “Our culture, curriculum, instruction, environment, assessment and professional development modules have all been set around the student and we constantly relook them in keeping up with the learners. We strongly believe that each child will find himself or herself though the unity we follow. Ekya will help parents achieve the best for their kids.”
