The block-level Samarthya training, an integrated in-service training package for teachers, will begin on June 28. Earlier, during the summer vacation this year, the State-level Samarthya programme was conducted here in five phases wherein 7,608 teachers were trained.
Sarangi said at least 1,72,982 teachers are expected to be trained at primary and upper primary stages, and another 40,000 teachers at the high school level. Explaining that three factors - universal enrolment, universal retention and quality education - are essential for proper implementation of the Act, she urged the participating teachers to lay more stress on classroom interaction with the students.Stating that ‘Ama Vidyalaya’ scheme has helped achieve 100 per cent retention of students in schools, she said the scheme was not just limited to colouring of schools. “This initiative has helped generate interest among kids to go to school every morning,” she said.Sarangi further announced that besides school-going girls, the Government had decided to provide cycles to SC/ST Class 10 boys in 118 Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) blocks. She said that any grievances of all the 19 teacher associations in the State will be addressed within 48 hours.
