As many as 15 enthusiast physics teachers from different institutions of the country have assembled here for three days to participate in deliberations on revitalizing physics education through innovative teaching methods.
On Saturday, the first day of the three-day workshop being held at Patna Science College, H C Verma of IIT, Kanpur, demonstrated more than 20 new low-cost experiments with a view to providing a clear understanding of various principles of physics. These experiments could easily be performed by students themselves and have a clear grasp of the subject, he said.
All other senior resource persons, including M S Marwaha from Chandigarh, R K Awasthi from Agra, Amit Jana from Kolkata, R K Mitra from Lucknow, Satish Yadav from Hardoi, Amit Bajpai and Brajesh Pandey from IIT, Kanpur, Brajesh Dixit from Orissa, Ajay Mahajan from Latur, Lakshmikant Sharma from Pilibhit, Smita Fangaria from Noida, and Rakesh Kumar Singh and Amarendra Narayan from Patna, narrated their experiences in undertaking the exercise of motivating students to take up science education in larger interest of the society. The basic purpose of this workshop is to create a healthy environment for basic science teaching and research.
Earlier, a seminar on `Bhartiya Vigyan -- Route to Developed Bharat' was held here on Friday in which young science students interacted with the senior resource persons in various areas of pure science. Bihar School Examination Board chairman and former L N vice-chancellor Rajmani Prasad Singh delivered the keynote address.
PG diploma course: The one-year PG diploma course in Computer Applications launched by the statistics department of is drawing rush of admission seekers. The last date for submission of application forms for admission to this course is June 20 and an entrance test will be held on June 22. Classes of this course shall commence on July 16, said course coordinator Anchala Kumari.
