Institute of Management Technology (IMT), a leading educational establishment forays into South India with its futuristic Hyderabad campus. Mr. Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for HRD, IT & Communication, Government of India inaugurated IMT Hyderabad today by lighting the lamp. The inaugural was also graced by Mr. Kamal Nath, Union Minister of Urban Development, Government of India and Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh; Ms. Sabitha Indira Reddy, Minister for Home, Govt. of AP.
Addressing the gathering immediately after inaugurating the institute Mr. Kapil Sibal congratulated IMT management for bringing out such a well infrastructure college here at Hyderabad.
I understand IMT has three campuses in India and one campus abroad in Dubai. India is not only a dominant player in education; it is also exporting education to the world. He stressed upon the importance of management in everyday life. We manage home, we manage 24 hours a day, we manage our localities, and we manage Grama Sabhas. Such is the importance of management. Management is heart of everyday life. But unfortunately little importance is attributed to it in our country, he lamented. If we have more quality management education we have more solutions to our problems. Excellence in management is only possible to excellent institutions, which I am sure IMT will live up to its expectations, he said.

Mr. Kapil Sibal quoted PM saying Indian infrastructure development requires US$ 1 trillion. If such a thing happens we need more engineering and more management graduates. Are we ready for it, he questioned. Adding further he stated that Business Education is not static, it is dynamic one. In Indian education system we put lot of limitations to our children. This limitation in choice is the greatest limitation in our education - remove it, he said.
Our Indian students only know three streams - arts, science and commerce - whereas our foreign counter parts have much more wider choice, Mathematics and Music, Architecture and Chemistry, Kathakalli and History. To have that flexible choices time has come for us to change our mindset, he said.
Giving his presidential address Kamal Nath, President - IMT said the objective of Hyderabad campus is not merely to offer state-of-the-art infrastructure but to offer world class education which will produce globally competitive students. Whole world is changing, globalization is happening everywhere, technology is changing. Innovations are happening day in and day out, if you don't adapt to these changing times you will be left behind, he said. These are the challenges of the present management in the country and urged the faculty to sensitize students too along with the changing times with ever new strategies. He told them to impart right management education. You can't offer today's management graduates yesterday's management systems, he said.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said Hyderabad is host to some of the best educational institutions like ISB, IIIT, BITS and now IMT. We want to transform Hyderabad as a knowledge city. Besides it being a capital of Pharma and IT, Hyderabad now has a distinction of being a training capital of the country. Our government gives lot of importance to education. We have extended financial support in the form of scholarships to 27 lakh students at a cost of Rs.3500 crores, he informed. It is our duty to see that no child in the state should be deprived of education. We are investing on human resources development in the state. Five years back we had 1,40,000 engineering graduates coming out of the colleges, we today produce 5 lakh engineers annually. We don't need mere engineers and management graduates. We need competitive and employable human capital and reminded what US President Obama sometime ago told his countrymen to be careful about Indian talent. We the government in the state would like to give skill development training to 15 lakh students in the next 3 years, he informed.
Earlier Dr. V. Panduranga Rao, Director - IMT Hyderabad welcomed the gathering and thanked the Government for their support without which it wouldn't have been possible.
