The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to reconsider its order withdrawing approval for Sri Padmavathy College of Engineering in Mevalurkuppam and VKK Engineering College and extend the approval for 2011-12 if it was satisfied with the compliance of the norms fixed by it.
Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar gave the direction on August 16. He directed the AICTE to reconsider the order and to extend the approval for 2011-12. Setting aside the withdrawal orders, the judge said that if necessary, the AICTE could send another inspection team to find out whether all the norms were complied with and thereafter it could pass fresh orders. As admissions and classes had to commence shortly , the judge directed the AICTE to complete the process and pass fresh orders within three weeks and maintain status-quo till then.
