SERRA International, engaged in pre-school education, has decided to invest Rs 100 crore to expand its chain of pre-schools across India, a top company official said here.
"We already have 35 pre-schools and plans to set up over 100 pre-schools in specific cities in India. The promoters Arun Arora and Anshul Arora are expected to invest Rs 100 crore to fund expansion plans in the next phase," SERRA CEO Ranjan Goyal told PTI here.
"We want to expand at Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cochin in the south; Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Panchkula, Mohali, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida, Delhi, Gurgoan in the North; Patna, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Rourkela in the east; Surat, Bhopal and Baroda in the West," he said.
"Following its tie-up with EtonHouse International Eduction Group of Singapore for pre-school education, SERRA International has become the first in India to access an international curriculum resourced from across the world with highly-qualified teachers trained by experts in Early Childhood Education (ECE)," Goyal said.
There is a big opportunity in the pre-school education market in the country which is expected to reach USD 1 billion by 2012 from the present USD 300 million, he added.
"The Indian pre-school education market is one of the largest in the world. In India, the pre-school segment is currently valued at USD 300 million and is expected to reach USD 1 billion by 2012.
At present, the industry in India has both the organised and unorganised sector. However, the organised sector represents just 17 per cent of the aggregate industry and this is expected to rise to 25 per cent next year," Goyal said.
SERRA International Pre-Schools Director Anshul Arora said the SERRA offers overall experience which encourages a strong physical, emotional, social and moral development of children.
Ms Ng Gim Choo, Group Managing Director of EtonHouse International Group-Singapore, said the setting up of pre-schools across India is an effort through an educational philosophy that respects children and encourages them to follow their interests, while pursuing academic goals.
EtonHouse operates 52 schools and pre-schools in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and China.
