Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced the Bhubaneswar edition of TCS IT Wiz – India’s biggest inter school IT Quiz will be held on September 6, Tuesday at Pal Heights, J/7 Jayadev Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
The Bhubaneswar edition is open to school students studying in class 8-12 (including Pre university/junior college students). There is no entry fee. Each institution is allowed to send multiples teams of two-members each to participate.
The Regional rounds of TCS IT Wiz 2011 will be held in 12 cities - Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai. The Regional rounds will be followed by a National Finals in December where the winning teams from the 12 Regional rounds will compete for TCS IT Wiz National Champion title.

TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter school IT Quiz programme in India, has been running for 12 years as a part the company’s Corporate Social Initiative. As Asia’s largest IT firm, TCS plays a pioneering role to help build awareness about technology and provide a window to the world of Information Technology for young students. Overall Quiz Format: The written prelims are a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue. Questions are in the form of oral, visual and audiovisual. Participants will answer the preliminary written round on the pre-printed answer sheets supplied by TCS.
Final: The top six teams from the written prelim would qualify for final. Only the best team from each school will be called on stage in the event of multiple teams from the same school qualifying for the final. The winner from these 6 teams will represent Coimbatore at the National Finals of TCS IT Wiz to be held in December.
The 2011 TCS IT Wiz Regional winners will walk away with Galaxy tablet each and a digital camera and runners-up will be rewarded with an iPod touch along with the winners Trophy and the runners trophy. The 6 finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from travel bag, headphones, speakers, usb pen drive and more.
Subject: The Quiz will focus on applications of Information Technology across various sectors such as world of Internet and unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms, IT Personalia - international, national and local, advertisements of IT and communication companies, software products and brands, history of IT as well as the humorous side of IT. The Quiz will also cover areas where IT has made an impact - education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, blogging, cell phones, etc. There will be an exclusive round on TCS
