The short programme would start up IIFT''s executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) course in Kampala from next year, a memorandum of understanding for which has been signed with the Uganda government, Chacko told PTI after addressing a conclave on "Asia The Emerging Benchmark In Commodities".
The Kampala programme would mirror IIFT''s 10-year programme in Darussalam, Tanzania, added Chacko, who led an eight-student delegation to the conclave jointly organised with the Singapore Mercantile Exchange (SMX).
The students prepared and hosted the conclave with SMX, which celebrated its first year of trading operation in Singapore, having belled off on August 31, 2010.
"We aim to get exposure to international businesses through the conclave," said Prerna Parija, a 26-year old MBA programme student from Orissa at the Delhi IIFT campus.
"We want to reach out to the global trade, finance and commodity trading organizations and the Singapore conclave gives us the right opportunities," she said.
"We have received a lot of constructive feedback through our interaction with Singapore-based IIFTians and will be discussing it with our executive committee on how to take forward the IIFTs programmes," added the 26-year old Varun Sharma, who is also pursuing an MBA programme at the IIFT.
The conclave, part of IIFT''s ongoing international efforts, would also generate employment opportunities of the IIFT students.
Elaborating on IIFTians global reach, Chacko said about 60 IIFTians were working in top executive positions with Singapore-based companies and some 3,000 were among the top decision makers in the global trading and business corporations.
