Cong to seek young candidates for next Assembly, LS elections

"I don't need the backing of any leader, not even Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi for ensuring adequate representation of youths in the party affairs of Orissa," Tytler said.He asked why this should not be so when youths comprised 70 per cent of the state's population.Speaking about Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Tytler wondered why he did not accept his challenge for a televised debate on the development of Orissa.Claiming that all his allegations against the Orissa government had records in support, the Congress leader said "because of 12 and half years of misrule in the state, Orissa now ranks as the poorest state in the country." Tytler said Orissa received Rs 24, 000 crore from the Center in 2007-08, Rs 20,000 in 08-09 and Rs 25,000 in 09-10 for education which were much more in comparison to what Punjab and Gujarat got."But look where have these states have gone in the education sector and Orissa has just little over 7000 teachers for its 7000 schools," Tytler said.He said as the party in-charge of the state, he would visit every household in the next two and half years to make the people aware about what the Chief Minister had done for the state despite the Center's funding for development in each sector.
