Punjab is all set to launch a scheme to provide her free education to girls up to Class 12 from July 1 this year. Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said government has taken this step to encourage the poor families to educate their girl child. He said the government has set aside Rs 26 crore for educating girls. Also, he said 1.46 lakh girl students in Class 11 and Class 12 will get bicycles from the government on Independence Day. The government has set aside Rs 75 crore for this scheme.
Punjab CJI hospitalised again
CHANDIGARH: A day after he was discharged from the hospital, Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Ranjan Gogoi was re-admitted to hospital after he complained of stomach pain. As per available information, he has been diagnosed with infection in his stomach. His condition is stated to be stable now. He has extended his leave till June 24.
