Engineering counselling will be on schedule in Karnataka

Karnataka higher education minister VS Acharya has finally taken cognizance of the trouble that engineering colleges go through, on account of approval necessary from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for various procedures.
“Starting next year, we will write to the AICTE to release the seat matrix for engineering courses before the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) prints the brochure,” Acharya said, speaking to reporters about the trouble that engineering college admission procedures run into, at the start of each academic session.
Every year, all engineering colleges need to submit applications to the AICTE for approval of different courses. After that application is received, the AICTE releases the seat matrix for that particular year. This year, some engineering colleges are still to receive the seat matrix from the AICTE.
Acharya said, “Nearly 145 of the state's engineering colleges have got approval for admission to different courses, the other 30 should get the approval soon.”
According to Acharya, all 10 government engineering colleges have got approval. However, some including the BMS College of Engineering have not got the approval.
“There is tremendous confusion regarding approval for admission, some colleges have got approval for additional seat matrices, but the original seat matrix has not been approved. From next year, we will begin communication with the AICTE at the beginning of the year,” Acharya said.
However, Acharya asserted that there would be no change in the counselling schedule. “Counselling for engineering courses will begin from June 27, as scheduled. Before that, we would have got the approval for the seat matrix,” the minister said.
