HC directs state authorities to furnish college land documents

Management representatives of two colleges who began construction of the institute buildings four years ago and are awaiting approval from the , have moved the  for relief in the matter. 

P S Mani, chairman, Sri Kumaran Educational Trust, who aimed to start a technical institution in Minjur town panchayat, Tiruvallur district and R Balasubramanian, who represented Cherraan Foundation, that was looking to start a technical instituion in Kangeyam taluk, Tiruppur district, said they had begun constructing the buildings as per the standards prescribed by AICTE. 

Both parties filed writ petitions for a direction to AICTE to process their applications dated April 23, 2011 which were made after complying with various requirements made by the council. These requirements included furnishing the building plan and certificate in respect of reclassification of lands. 

Though both petitioners had approached the directorate of town and country planning, their applications remained pending till this date. Justice P Jyothimani directed the directorate of town and country planning and CMDA to pass orders on their applications for AICTE to subsequently pass appropriate orders thereon.
