NAMSCON meet to discuss TB, Malaria

Emergence and recurrence of public health disorders like tuberculosis, malaria and filaria, viral and fungal infections with special reference to the Eastern Indian states will be the major theme at the three-day annual conference of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) here from October 14.
�NAMSCON-2011, as the conference will be known, is being held for the first time in Orissa and will be attended by the who’s who of India’s health sector, including policy makers.
�The conference will have a Continuing Medical Education (CME) component where the focus will be on Eastern India and re-emergence of public health disorders.
Faculty members of all six medical colleges of Orissa, medical students and professionals as well as officials of the Union Ministry of Health are expected to attend. NAMSCON 2011 is being organised by Siksha O Anusandhan University.
� Around 300 fellows and members of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) who include former Directors, Deans and eminent professors at National Institutes like AIIMS, New Delhi, and the PGIs, will congregate for the conference.
�Besides the CME on the opening day, oration by eminent medical professionals will mark the second day which will also witness the convocation in the afternoon when around 100 new fellows and members would be admitted to the Academy.
