BHUBANESWAR: The North Orissa University(NOU) in Baripada has stumbled upon three more "fake" mark sheets, used by students to get admissions into the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhubaneswar.
In August, NOU had found that three students, including two girls, of the 2009 batch had inflated their marks during admission to the two-yearB.Ed course at RIE. While two of them had completed their graduations in Arts, the third one was a science graduate.
"This is for the second time that we stumbled upon tampered mark sheets. We have informed RIE about the matter," NOU's controller of examinations Laxmidhar Nayak said.
RIE principal U K Nanda said: "I have received the report. I will forward it to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), the apex body of RIE institutes in the country."
RIE had recently sent the mark sheets of all students to the universities from where they had graduated. It had followed the shocking revelation of bogus mark sheets being used by the three students. The institute authorities had come to know about the fraud after a man blew the lid off the matter in July this year.
"After the first incident, we had sent all the mark sheets for verification," another RIE officer said. "We were shocked to find that three more students from colleges affiliated to NOU used fake mark sheets to take admissions," he said.
Meanwhile, NCERT seems is yet to initiate any action against the three 2009 batch students.
NOU officer Nayak said: "Our syndicate sub-committee is taking the matter seriously. The committee will visit those colleges from where the students completed their graduations."
