AIEEE woes for scores of Indore candidates

INDORE: The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) aspirants from Indore would face a tough time as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to conduct the 2012 online exam only in Bhopal.
There was no allotment of centre in Indore despite it being the major education hub of the state.
According to the estimates of coaching institutes, Indore has the maximum number of students applying for the online AIEEE online. Nearly 7,000 students are likely to appear online from Indore alone, which will be almost 2,000 more than the students from Bhopal.
"Students feel comfortable when they appear for the test in their city. They will also miss the guidance of mentors," K Sriniwas Rao, principal, Sri Chaitanya Academy said.
However, of the 22 chosen cities across the country, where the examination will be conducted online, option to take offline exam will not be available.
There will be no centre in Bhopal for students wishing to take offline examination. They will have to move to neighbouring cities.
"This time there is no provision of offline exam in Bhopal so aspirants have to move out of Bhopal to take the exam," Sumit Upmanyu, an engineering aspirant said.
In addition to this, the examination forms will not be sold from next year. The CBSE has decided to accept the forms through online mode only.
The Board has also doled out incentives to encourage participation in online exam. The candidates taking the online exam will be given a concession of Rs 150 to Rs 300 in the examination fee.
