Ayurvedic college in Jammu, unani college in Srinagar soon: Govt


The state government will soon establish an Ayurvedic College in Jammu and a Unani College in Srinagar, Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib, said here on Monday.
Chib, who was the chief guest in a function organized by Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of All India Ayurvedic Congress to celebrate “Dhanwanrti Jayanti”, while speaking on the occasion paid rich tributes to progenitor of Ayurveda-Dhanwantri.
He impressed upon Ayurvedic professionals to dedicate their system for treatment of ailing masses.
He further said that government is keen to undertake all steps which are necessary for strengthening traditional system in the State.
He said that there is a separate department namely AYUSH, setup by the Government of India, to promote ayurvedic science.
Chib described lord Dhanvantari as symbol of self less service to humanity with the knowledge of ayurveda which come into existence after churning of ocean of wisdom prevailing thousands of years ago in India.
He said ayurvedic system of medicines is gaining global popularity for its non toxic effects and meticulous curing results.
The function was attended by large number of Ayurvedic professionals, prominent citizens and a large number of Ayurvedic students.
