Education minister must step down: DYFI

PUDUCHERRY: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) state unit secretary, D Tamilselvam, has asked education minister P M L Kalyanasundaram to step down till the enquiry into allegations over him using a proxy to clear his SSLC exams was completed.
Addressing reporters on Thursday, he said the Puducherry students’ heads were hanging in shame after the allegations against the education minister came to light.
Pointing out that the suspension of a supervisor of the Tindivanam examination centre has strengthened the allegations, the DYFI leader said the minister should step down till the probe by the Tamil Nadu education authorities were over.
Tamilselvan further said that chief minister N Rangasamy’s silence on the whole issue was surprising.
He demanded a CBI enquiry into the issue and revealed that DYFI and Students Federation of India (SFI) would jointly organise a demonstration on Friday against the continuance of Kalyanasundram in the minister’s post.
