HelpAge launches'SAVE' in Bihar


PATNA: Celebrating the 'International day of older persons' (October 1), HelpAge India launched its nationwide campaign 'Save action for value education' ( SAVE) in Bihar here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, it also organized a daylong tour for more than 50 older persons at Patna zoo. More than 100 students from eight governmentand private schools of the city, wearing badges with a slogan 'I love my grandparents', did a hand-in-hand walk with their grandparents after greeting them with roses and taking an oath to always love and respect them. The walk was flagged off by Abhay Kumar, director, Patna zoo.
HelpAge also arranged a joyride for children with the elderly in the battery-driven car. At the function, singer Sumit Bose presented a 'SAVE song' and students entertained the elderly with their singing and poems.
Debabrata Ghosh, state head, Bihar and Jharkhand, HelpAge India, said, "On Friday we are taking as many as 26 elderly persons working actively for the welfare of older persons on a two-day-long 'heritage tour' from Patna to Pawapuri and back to Patna via Bodhgaya and Nalanda."
