US keen on deepening ties with Orissa

BHUBANESWAR: With Orissa making major strides on economic development, the US is keen to establish greater bilateral trade and business ties with the State, Economic Affairs Associate of the Consulate General of USA Paul C. Mueller said here on Tuesday.
The US is exploring several areas for building partnerships with local entrepreneurs and trade bodies. Orissa with its vast potential in mining and minerals as well as industries offers immense opportunities for bilateral relationships, Mueller said.
Mueller, on a visit to the State, on Tuesday interacted with the members of the Indo American Chamber of Commerce, Orissa Branch. The objective was to develop greater understanding of the State and foster relationships with the business community of the region.
The US Government has also come forward to assist the State Government in the post- flood reconstruction, restoration and rehabilitation efforts, he added.
IACC Orissa Branch Chairman Dibyalok Patnaik said the visit signified recognition of Orissa as an emerging state with vast potential and opportunities among the developed nations. Apart from mining, minerals and industries, education was also a major sector where partnerships were being explored between the US and the State.
Such interactions would not only strengthen ties but also help the business community of Orissa to establish links with the USA, he added.
